The Single Machine Environment, as the name suggests is one in which there is exactly one machine to process the jobs.

Each job in this environment has exactly one task. The jobs themselves could have ready times, due dates, weights and precedence constraints.

While the algorithms generate feasible solutions in the face of ready times and duedates they are not guaranteed to be optimal.
